Day 1
Day 1: Arrival in Leh Arrival at Leh Airport: Touch down at Leh, situated at an altitude of 3,505 meters (11,567 feet). Meet & Greet: Be greeted by our representative at the airport and transfer to your hotel. Rest: Take the morning to acclimatize to the high altitude and rest at your hotel. Lunch: Enjoy a relaxed lunch at the hotel. Afternoon Excursion: If you’re feeling up to it, visit the renowned Shanti Stupa, a serene Japanese Pagoda built for world peace by Indian-based Japanese monks and inaugurated by His Holiness the Dalai Lama in 1985. Dinner: Return to the hotel for a warm dinner. Overnight: Stay overnight at your hotel in Leh, preparing for the exciting days ahead.
Day 2
Day 2: Leh Local Sightseeing Breakfast: Start your day with a hearty breakfast at the hotel. Morning: Indus & Zanskar River Sangam: Drive to the confluence of the Indus and Zanskar Rivers, a breathtaking sight where the two rivers meet. Pathar Sahib Gurdwara: Visit this sacred Sikh shrine, known for its serene atmosphere and historical significance. Magnetic Hill: Experience the optical illusion where vehicles seem to defy gravity and roll uphill on their own. Afternoon: Leh Hall of Fame: Explore this museum dedicated to the Kargil War, featuring memorabilia and exhibits that honor the bravery of Indian soldiers. Evening: Return to your hotel in Leh. Dinner: Enjoy a relaxing dinner at the hotel. Overnight: Spend the night at your hotel in Leh, reflecting on the day’s fascinating experiences.
Day 3
Day 3: Leh to Nubra Valley Early Breakfast: Enjoy a hearty breakfast at the hotel to prepare for the day’s journey. Drive to Nubra Valley: Set out for Nubra Valley via the breathtaking Khardung La Pass, which stands at an impressive altitude of 18,380 feet, making it the world’s highest motorable road. The panoramic views from the top are simply spectacular. Visit Deskit Monastery: Continue to Deskit Monastery (118 km from Leh), founded by Lama Sherab Zangpo in 1420 A.D. This monastery is renowned for its scenic location and large statue of Maitreya Buddha. Check-in: Arrive in Nubra Valley and check in at your camp or hotel. Afternoon Excursion: Hundar Village: Head to Hundar village (7 km from Deskit) and explore its unique landscape. Double-Humped Bactrian Camel Safari: Experience a camel ride on the sand dunes of Hundar, where you can ride the rare double-humped Bactrian camels. Dinner: Return to your camp or hotel in Nubra Valley for dinner. Overnight: Enjoy a restful night at your camp or hotel, surrounded by the stunning natural beauty of Nubra Valley.
Day 4
On Day 4, you'll embark on a scenic drive from Nubra Valley to Pangong Lake via the Shayok route, a journey that spans approximately 170-180 kilometers and takes around 6-7 hours. Departing early from Nubra Valley, you'll traverse through rugged landscapes, following the course of the Shayok River. The route, though shorter than alternatives like the Wari La Pass, offers stunning views of barren mountains, river crossings, and the occasional sighting of wildlife. The road can be challenging in parts, so caution is essential. Upon arrival at Pangong Lake, you'll be rewarded with the breathtaking sight of its turquoise waters set against the backdrop of towering mountains. Spend the afternoon soaking in the serenity of the lake before settling into one of the nearby camps for the night, where a clear evening sky might offer a chance to marvel at the stars.
Day 5
On Day 5, you'll journey back from Pangong Lake to Leh, covering approximately 225 kilometers via the Chang La Pass. Starting early, you'll leave behind the tranquil beauty of Pangong Lake and ascend towards the high-altitude Chang La Pass, known for its breathtaking views. After descending into the Leh Valley, your route will take you through Thiksey Monastery, a stunning hilltop structure resembling the Potala Palace in Tibet, where you can explore its ancient Buddhist art and panoramic views. Continuing towards Leh, make a stop at Rancho's School (Druk Padma Karpo School), made famous by the movie "3 Idiots." The school offers an inspiring look at sustainable education in the region. By late afternoon, you’ll reach Leh, where you can relax and reflect on the diverse landscapes and cultural experiences from your journey.
Day 6
On Day 6, it's time to bid farewell to the enchanting landscapes of Ladakh as you head to Leh Airport for your flight back home. After a leisurely breakfast, you'll make the short drive to Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport, one of the highest airports in the world. As you leave behind the towering mountains, vibrant monasteries, and serene lakes, you'll carry with you unforgettable memories of this unique journey. The stunning aerial views of the Himalayas from the flight will serve as a final reminder of the beauty and tranquility of Ladakh. With a heart full of adventure and serenity, you'll return home, enriched by the culture and landscapes you've experienced.
