Ladakh: An Expedition Across the Land of High Passes

Day 1

Day 1: Airport Arrival in Leh Our agent will meet you at the Leh Kushok Bakula Airport and take you to your hotel so you may check in. To give yourself time to acclimate, we advise you to take it easy for the remainder of the day. You are also invited to have a complementary welcome tea or coffee at the hotel. We will see the well-known Shanti Stupa in the evening and then spend an hour browsing the neighborhood market. We will then spend the night back at the hotel or guest house.

Day 2

Day 2 - Leh to Khardung La Top and Sham Valley Excursion (39 Kms One Way) After breakfast, embark on an exhilarating drive to Khardung La, the world’s highest motorable pass at 18,390 feet, located about 39 kilometers from Leh. At the top, take in the breathtaking views of the Zanskar range to the south and the Saser Massif to the north. After soaking in the panoramic beauty, we'll head back to Leh, driving along the scenic Indus River on the Leh-Kargil highway. En route, visit the Hall of Fame, a museum built by the Indian Army, followed by a stop at Gurudwara Patthar Sahib, a serene shrine nestled in the Himalayas. Experience the gravity-defying phenomenon at Magnetic Hill before continuing to the confluence of the Indus and Zanskar rivers. On the way back, visit Spituk Monastery, a 15th-century Gelug-pa monastery perched like a fortress. Return to Leh by evening, where the rest of the day is yours to explore at leisure.

Day 3

Day 3 - Excursion to Pangong Lake After an early breakfast, we will embark on a scenic journey to the stunning Pangong Lake, traveling through the Changla Pass at an elevation of 5,486 meters. As we ascend, you'll have the opportunity to capture breathtaking photos of the surrounding landscape, including the picturesque Sakti Village. After a brief stop at the pass for some photos, we’ll continue to Tangtse village, where you can enjoy a warm cup of tea. From here, we’ll make our way through small Changthang villages before arriving at the breathtaking Pangong Lake. This famous blue brackish lake stretches 5-6 kilometers in width and over 133 kilometers in length, with almost half of it lying across the Indo-China border. The lake’s mesmerizing beauty and tranquil surroundings are unforgettable. In the afternoon, we'll begin our return journey to Leh, arriving in the evening. The rest of the evening is yours to explore at your leisure before spending the night at a hotel in Leh.

Day 4

Day 4 - Departure As your tour concludes, we thank you for choosing us for your journey. After breakfast, you will be transferred to Leh Airport for your flight to your onward destination. We hope you carry cherished memories of your time in Ladakh. Safe travels!
