Day 1 - Arrival in Leh Arrive at Leh Kushok Bakula Airport, known for offering one of the most spectacular flights in the world. On a clear day, you can catch glimpses of the majestic peaks of K2, Nanga Parbat, and Gasherbrum on one side of the aircraft, while the Nun Kun massif appears so close it feels almost within reach on the other. Upon arrival, you'll be greeted by our representative and transferred to your hotel for check-in. Spend the rest of the day relaxing and acclimatizing to the altitude. Enjoy a welcome tea or coffee at the hotel before heading out in the evening to visit Shanti Stupa. Afterward, take a brief stroll through the local market for about an hour. Return to the hotel or guest house for an overnight stay.
Day 2 - Sham Valley Excursion to Sangam After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive along the Leh-Kargil Highway, heading downstream beside the River Indus. Your first stop will be the Hall of Fame Museum, established by the Indian Army, which offers a poignant glimpse into India's military history. Next, visit Gurudwara Patthar Sahib, a serene shrine nestled deep in the Himalayas. Continue to Magnetic Hill, a fascinating site where the laws of gravity seem to be defied. Proceed to the confluence of the Indus and Zanskar rivers, where their meeting creates a striking visual contrast. On the return journey, stop at Spituk Monastery, a 15th-century Gelug-pa monastery perched like a fortress atop a crag. After this enriching day, you'll head back to Leh, where the rest of the evening is free for you to explore on your own.
Day 3 - Leh to Nubra Valley via Khardung La (18,390 Ft.) After breakfast, set off on a journey to Nubra Valley, traveling across Khardung La, the highest motorable pass in the world at 5,602 meters (18,390 feet), located approximately 39 kilometers from Leh. From the pass, take in the breathtaking views of the Indus Valley to the south and the towering peaks of the Zanskar range to the north, including the Saser massif. Nubra Valley, also known as Ldumra or the Valley of Flowers, lies between the Karakoram and Ladakh ranges at an average altitude of 10,000 feet above sea level. Upon arrival, check in at your camp or hotel in Hunder. In the evening, explore the quaint villages of Nubra to experience local life, and a visit to a traditional Ladakhi home can be arranged. Enjoy an overnight stay at your camp or hotel.
Day 4 - Nubra Valley to Leh After an early breakfast, check out from your camp and head to Hunder, where you’ll have the unique opportunity to ride a bactrian camel (double-humped) amidst the striking sand dunes of this high-altitude desert, with snow-capped peaks in the background. The journey between Hunder and Diskit offers a dramatic contrast, with sand dunes juxtaposed against rugged rocky mountains and distant snowy summits, reminiscent of the Thar Desert in Rajasthan. In Diskit, the headquarters town of Nubra Valley, take a leisurely stroll through the bazaar to observe local life and explore the shops. Don’t miss the Diskit Monastery, a 515-year-old Buddhist monastery perched on a hilltop, offering panoramic views of the valley. Afterward, drive back to Leh via Khardung La. Arriving in Leh in the late afternoon, check in to your hotel and take the rest of the day to relax and explore at your own pace.
Day 5 - Leh: Excursion to Pangong Lake After an early breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Pangong Lake via the Chang La Pass, which stands at an elevation of 5,486 meters. The journey takes you through winding roads and picturesque landscapes, passing through Sakti Village. Stop at Chang La Pass for some memorable photographs before continuing to the village of Tangtse, where you can enjoy a relaxing cup of tea. From Tangtse, proceed towards Pangong Lake, navigating through several small villages in the Changthang region. As you approach Pangong Lake, situated at 4,267 meters (14,000 feet), you’ll be greeted by its stunning blue brackish waters. The lake is approximately 5-6 kilometers wide and extends over 133 kilometers, with a significant portion lying across the Indo-China border. The natural beauty and tranquility of Pangong Lake are truly awe-inspiring. After spending time soaking in the breathtaking views, drive back to Leh in the late afternoon. The rest of the day is free for you to relax or explore at your leisure. Overnight stay at your hotel in Leh.
